Black Nazarene

When we were in Quaipo Church, I saw the Black Nazarene.
Hmmm..
I wonder why people worship that statue?
Why are they praying to him when it is just a stone or wood?
Why when it is just a thing without even a soul?
I really wonder why?
And also..
Why is the Black Nazarene so brown?
Is it burned?
or is it just the way it was when it was made?
I did not mean anything bad here.
I just wonder about things.
